Kenya's huge variety of environments, including snow on the higher mountains, cool lush forests, open temperate plains, lowland tropical forests, mangrove swamps and seashores, is one of the reasons for the abundance of bird life.
This safari will take you through several of these environments, including visits to the soda lake and acacia woods of Lake Nakuru, the rain forests of Kakamega, the cliffs and savannahs of Lake Baringo and the coastal seashores, mangroves and forest of Watamu.
A Sample Itinerary
- Day 01 - Leave Nairobi in the morning and drive through the Great Rift Valley. Picnic lunch en route. Game viewing en route to camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.
- Day 02 - Morning and afternoon game viewing in Masai Mara. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.
- Day 03 - Early morning game viewing in Masai Mara. After breakfast leave Reserve, driving through Kilgoris and stopping for a picnic lunch in Kisii. Visit the Tabaka soapstone mining quarries and also the carvers. Drive to the Sonic Hotel for dinner and overnight.
- Day 04 - Visit Keumbu area to see the pineapple and banana plantations; the lifeblood of the community, visit Ahero Falconry and then Kisumu town for lunch. Proceed to Kakamega and visit the Crying Stone, part of local folklore. Dinner and overnight at camp.
- Day 05 - Visit the Kakamega Forest and local villages. Dinner and overnight at camp.
- Day 06 - Visit the Kit Mikayi. According to Luo folklore this stone is believed to be the remains of a lady who was forced out of the homestead by a jealous husband. The proceed to Lwanda Magere, this stone is believed to be the remains of a Luo warrior who was killed after betrayal.
- Day 07 - After breakfast drive through tea plantations to Lake Baringo with lunch in Nakuru en route. Proceed through Lake Bogoria National Park. Dinner & overnight at the camp/lodge.
- Day 08 - After breakfast, a boat trip to visit the Njemps fishermen.
