Mount Kenya, the second highest mountain in Africa; has a base diameter of more that 150 kilometers and is one of the world's largest freestanding volcanic mountains.
The equator crosses its northern slopes at 3350 meters with the mountains twin snowcapped peaks, Batian and Nelion, brushing the sky some 17 kilometers south. There are four main routes to climb the mountain in which you are likely to see wild animals and for which it is forbidden to climb without guides.
The mountain has an amazing range of unusual vegetation 00 times more than seen at lower altitudes. From the mountain top on a clear day; one can see Mt. Kimanjaro to the south, Mt. Elgon to the west, Mt. Marsabit to the north and the Indian Ocean to the east.
The Climb takes you to point Lenana, which is accessible without having to use specialized gear. A climb to the Nelion or Batian peak's can be arranged but requires more days, specialized mountain climbing gear such as ace axes and experienced guides.
We look forward to your visit.
